Here are some examples of what your gift could buy:

  • £15 could help to fund an adult cataract operation.
  • £30 could pay for 30 pairs of glasses.
  • £500 could help to train one ophthalmic nurse or refraction specialist.
  • £3,000 could buy 3,000 lenses used to replace an eye’s own cloudy lens during cataract surgery.
  • £25,000 could buy 40 motorbikes to enable eye care workers to run screening camps in remote rural communities.

If you are interested in sponsoring a specific eye care project with a gift of £3,000 or more, we would be delighted to discuss this further with you. For administrative reasons, gifts of less than £3,000 cannot be restricted to a project.

1,000 Eyes Club: if you would like your donation to go towards cataract surgeries, you can join our exclusive 1,000 Eyes Club. By donating £15,000, you will help fund 1,000 sight-restoring cataract surgeries. £15,000 can be spread over 12, 24 or 36 months and can include Gift Aid.

If you would like to organise a private fundraising dinner or a funding circle (whereby you make a pledge and challenge your friends to match it), our professional fundraising team is here to support you. Senior Sightsavers staff, including colleagues from India, would be delighted to attend your event to talk about our work in India.
